Summer might be vacation season, but your Delaware Republican Party has been hard at work! Our State Chair, Julianne Murray, has taken the lead to create volunteer based and grass roots driven committees and task forces that are working together up and down the State, and they have been BUSY. Three of the busiest Committees thus far have been the Messaging and Publicity Committee, the Candidate Recruitment and Support Committee, and the Outreach Commitee, three key committees that will be interacting with each other closely. The Messaging Commitee helps to create our Republican Message, the Candidate Support Committee helps to identify and support the Messenger, and the Outreach Committee helps to deliver the Message! All three are key to a successful Get Out The Vote campaign!
In this post, I would like to update the Mighty 38th on what the Messaging and Publicity Committee has been up to and what they have created so far. If it doesn't seem like a lot, or not enough, well they are just getting started, and they are volunteers, just like we are. The first task the Messaging and Publicity Committee was given, was to come up with statements of what it is that we Republicans believe. We have had this type of message previously, but like most things, it was in need of some fresh eyes and an update.
The Committee came together, and like the attendees of the First Constitutional Convention before they ever met, the 40 (yes FORTY) members of the Messaging Committee communicated with each other by correspondence only. It was fast, it was furious, it was opinionated and it was voluminous! But the team got it done, and here is what they came up with. Mind you, there was still disagreement in the end, and you may not agree with the statements in their entirety either, but it's a start. Note, the Delaware democrats also have their "We Believe" statements, but how the Republican statements differ, is that in addition to wanting to safeguard our rights, Republicans also promote personal responsibility.
Our Chair has reviewed the statements and has begun using them to see how they resonate with voters, Republicans, independents and moderate democrats alike. The Chair gives her permission for us to beta test these statements too and then see what kind of feedback you get!

WHAT WE BELIEVE
We Republicans believe in safeguarding the rights and freedoms of every Delawarean to pursue their goals, dreams and ambitions without facing discrimination or threats, while ensuring that no one is harmed in that process.
We Republicans believe in policies that promote more job and career formation, aid small business owners, and bring industries back to Delaware, creating opportunities for prosperity and a better future for ourselves and our children.
We Republicans believe in policies that prepare students for the future with a practical, high-quality education measured by scholastic achievement, empowering them to achieve their aspirations and contribute to society.
We Republicans believe in a safer Delaware where families can play, shop and gather socially without fear, ensuring accountability and equal justice for all.
We support the rights of parents to practice their religion and make reproductive choices that are legal, safe, and respectful of both the parent’s rights and the life of an unborn infant.
We believe in a limited government that adheres to our Constitution and laws, operating with fairness, transparency and cooperation between the people and their leaders to advance our health, welfare and happiness, while also ensuring fiscal responsibility.
We Republicans believe your vote is your voice, for yourself and for others, and you must exercise that responsibility.
Your vote, your choice, your voice.
The We Believe statements is just a start. Next the Messaging and Publicity Committee will be starting some of its real messaging work, zippy statements to be utilized by our candidates and volunteers. Stay tuned!
