Delaware GOP Press Release - Chair Saves DE 1.5 Million Dollars

Please see below the Press Release regarding the proper and lawful cancellation of the 2024 Presidential Primary. Unlike how the democrat Election Commissioner, Anthony Albence, usurped authority and unilaterally cancelled a Republican primary without consulting either the Delaware Republican Party or the law, with the guidance of GOP Chair Julianne Murray, a constitutional attorney, our Republican caucus was able to propose and pass proper legislative law through both the Senate and House with Governor Carney signing the bill into law in ONE day. This is what can happen when Good Ordinary People (GOP) stand up, call out wrongdoing and ACT to make our government follow its own rules, our Delaware Constitution. If it worked this one time, it can work EVERY time!

DELAWARE GOP APPLAUDS BI-PARTISAN SENATE BILL 241

March 19, 2024 – Wilmington, DE

Senate Bill 241 passed both chambers of the General Assembly and was signed by Governor Carney, all in a single day. The bill authorizes the cancellation of a Presidential Primary Election inside sixty days of the primary date if all, but one candidate, suspends, withdraws, or ends their campaigns.

The Delaware GOP applauds this decision that gave legal authority to the Commissioner of

Elections to cancel the Republican Presidential Primary Election scheduled for April 2 since there was only one remaining active candidate – Donald J. Trump.

“We worked the problem” stated Delaware GOP Chairman Julianne Murray. “When it became

clear that the Commissioner did not have the legal authority to cancel the Presidential Primary even though the Haley Campaign suspended and ultimately withdrew, the Republican Senate Caucus, Election Commissioner Anthony Albence and the Delaware GOP all worked together to remedy the situation. This is a terrific example of bi-partisan work, and I am thankful to both the House and the Senate for getting this done. Not only did it save the taxpayers about 1.5 million dollars but is a win for the rule of law. Everyone knows I am passionate about that topic.” concluded Murray.

End Press Release

We thank Delaware Republican Party Chair, Julianne Murray, for her selfless dedication to truth and justice in Delaware and congratulations to Donald Trump for being the winner and endorsed candidate for Republican Presidential candidate in Delaware! For Delaware!
