School Board Elections and Party Leadership

For those of you who missed our last Club Meeting, Mike Ramone was ON FIRE and delivered one of the best platforms on Statewide party leadership that is already in progress and just building momentum and getting bigger and better! Mike Ramone as House Minority Leader is working in conjunction with Lyndon Yearick, Minority Whip, for consistent statewide party messaging and coordinating efforts with Sussex, New Castle and Kent county Republicans to promote make-sense laws, push back against the progressive idiocracy, and has a plan to combat the ludicrous Electric Vehicle DNREC regulations and win elections!

Rep. Ramone was also very open about hearing from YOU, and all Delaware citizens. He gave out his personal email, cell phone number and even his wife's cell phone number, wow! We very much look forward to working more closely with this dynamic republican leadership. If you want to hear more about this Republican united front, then plan to attend the State GOP Convention to be held on Saturday April 29th, at the Modern Maturity Center in Dover. Email info@38thdrcp.com if you would like to be a Delegate and have a say in the State party leadership at this Organizational Convention.

Speaking of elections, Indian River School District WILL have a school board election on Tuesday, May 9th. There are two open positions, and two candidates, for District 2 and District 3. The deadline for filing as a candidate is Friday March 3, 4:30 p.m. To see which district you live in in the Indian River School District you can check the election maps here https://elections.delaware.gov/maps/school/sussex.shtml

This map here is more specific for Indian River School District https://elections.delaware.gov/maps/school/2012/sussex/INDIANRIVER.pdf

If you can run for school board, you will need to download an application and submit it to the Department of Elections in Georgetown before 4:30 p.m. You will need to be fingerprinted at SBI in Dover, they accept walk ins, just bring the receipt of your finger printing to the Department of Elections with your application. Any other questions call Sussex Department of Elections at 302-856-5367. https://elections.delaware.gov/information/elections/school/filinginfo.shtml

Going forward, all school board elections should not run unopposed, as this can lead to unclear platforms from the candidates and a sense of complacency, even with a competent school board incumbent.

I suggest you call or email these two candidates and ask them where they stand on education in Indian River.

Email Response From Leolga Wright:

Hello Mrs. Wright,

I understand you are running for School Board for IR, can you tell me what your platform is and what it is you would like to see at IR?

"I do not have a platform. I have served on the board for 2 terms and believe we have made many changes that are beneficial to our students. I wish to continue serving and help move the district forward in modern technology, more rigorous curriculum and address mental health issues that are becoming more prevalent.

I hope this helps and I will be glad to discuss any concerns you may have as well."

- Leolga Wright

Rep. Mike Ramone and Rep. Lyndon Yearick are working on a statewide courteous script that we may use to reach out to school board members to hopefully get better answers without being aggressive to better determine where they might stand on such topics such as critical race theory, early sexual education in elementary schools, diversity, equality and division based on race. When that script arrives, I will forward it.
