Vote By Mail May Be Contested But It May Be Our Only Way to Win November 8th

Updated: Oct 7, 2022

This is a reminder that our next meeting of the 38th District Republican Club, PAC will be Monday 9/26/2022 at the South Coastal Library on 43 Kent Avenue, Bethany Beach, 6:00pm for social mingle and meeting start promptly at 6:30pm. Our featured speaker will be Delaware GOP Chair, Jane Brady, who will discuss the upcoming general election and the lawsuit regarding early voting, mail in voting and same day voter registration. Please review our Delaware Constitution and more lawsuit specifics here https://www.38thdrcp.com/post/september-meeting-new-location . We will also hear from County Councilman Doug Hudson who will have a democrat opponent in the election, Nathan Mitchell.

For those of us who are "in the know" and keep up with our local and national politics, sometimes it is hard to understand that not everyone follows politics and many otherwise prudent citizens may not know the who, what, when or where when it comes to elections, candidates and tight races. Today I had a chance to speak with one of my neighbors about ...... PoLiTiCs!!!! I know, many of us are hesitant to go there. We want to keep good relations and not stir the pot. Especially in close proximity to where we live! Well, I did it anyway. I asked my long time close neighbor if he knew who was running in the upcoming Delaware election and his reply surprised me, and I am SO glad I brought the topic up.

First. he asked me if Senator Gerald Hocker was still in office and hoped that he was. To be fair, my front yard has EVERY Republican candidate's sign on it, and my neighbor DID see a sign for Rep. Ron Gray amongst the many candidates, but he did not see a sign for Senator Hocker. So I will say, OK, fair assumption, my bad. Of course I let him know that Senator Hocker was indeed still in office, is very active in the legislature and is in fact the Senate Minority Leader and will be running unopposed for his Senate Seat. My neighbor was also grateful to hear that Rep. Ron Gray would also be running unopposed for his House seat.

Every Election District Coordinator (EDC) should have their candidate yard signs visible!

After that clarification, I pointed to the rest of my yard signs, all lined up in a row and asked my neighbor if he was familiar with the candidates. Not knowing my good neighbor's party of choice, I opened my intro to the candidates as "Regardless if you are a republican or democrat, these are candidates that anybody can get behind," which is the truth! I went on, "Our current Attorney General, Kathleen Jennings, dropped 90% of gun related crime charges and promotes her "hug a thug" program while Julianne Murray's number one charge is public safety, upholding our laws and has the support of the law enforcement agencies. Our current Delaware State Treasurer, Colleen Davis, is a Physician Assistant with zero financial background while Greg Coverdale is an experienced financial planner, professor of personal finance and has a master's degree in Business Administration. Lisa Blunt Rochester our current U.S. Congresswoman is a member of the AOC "squad" and has voted with California's Nancy Pelosi 100% of the time, while U.S. Congress candidate Lee Murphy will vote independently and do what is best for Delaware, not California." To this short intro of our candidates, my neighbor said, "that makes sense." As it turns out my neighbor was a registered Democrat and has JUST changed his party affiliation to Republican, yay, #Walkaway! Now I need a sign for County Councilman Doug Hudson and you too, Senator Hocker!

OK, here's where I am going with this. If Republicans are going to get their candidates elected, there is only ONE way to do it. And that is by GETTING OUT THE VOTE! Only about 60% of Republicans come out to vote in general elections. If we could get 90% to come out to vote, Republicans would WIN. That's it, just coming out to vote! So, please talk to your friends, family and yes your neighbors. Ask them to come out to vote.

Requesting to vote-by-mail is easy and only takes a driver's license to request a ballot online

Now I'm going to say something controversial. There is currently a lawsuit against mail-in-voting. Delaware has always had absentee voting, but for specific circumstances. This was decided during the formation of our State when Delaware declared independence from not only Britain but from Pennsylvania as well! It was decided that mail-in-voting was too great a fraud risk. Hmm, our founders were wise men. That said, although this lawsuit is pending, there is no injunction against the Department of Elections to prevent it from going forward with mail-in-voting. THEREFORE, I recommend that you consider requesting a ballot for mail-in-voting! I did. Click here for link: https://ivote.de.gov/VoterView . It is ridiculously easy to fill out, you just need to submit your name, birthdate, driver's license number and opt to sign your signature electronically with the online signature already associated with your driver's license. You can also opt to "permanently" request a mail-in ballot. Again, no reason required or requested. To be safe, in case mail-in-voting is found unconstitutional on appeal and these ballots are not allowed, you may wish to request an absentee ballot.

Pick up a candidate sign for YOUR yard! Email info@38thdrcp.com for physical address

And now you can see how mail-in-voting can be associated with fraud. There are no checks to stop people from requesting additional ballots for family members, nursing home patients, or out of town college students to name a few. You can believe democrats are already pushing vote-by-mail, since we saw this happen for the 2020 election. So republicans must play the game at hand and do the same. So please check out the website https://ivote.de.gov/VoterView and try vote-by-mail and let your NEIGHBORS also know how easy it is! And if you don't agree with vote-by-mail, then email every single Democrat Senator and Representative https://www.38thdrcp.com/contactyourrep to let them know how you feel and then VOTE REPUBLICAN! And if you need a yard sign, I have many, come by anytime to pick one up!
