Delaware Is Becoming More Expensive. Here's Why.

The Southern Delaware Republican Club recently published the accompanying advertisement highlighting many of the tax and fee increases enacted by the Delaware General Assembly in recent years. While opinions will differ on whether these increases are justified, the underlying changes themselves are matters of public record.
"Government rarely raises your costs with one large tax. It raises them a little at a time through dozens of fees." - Rick Radatovich.
Several of the most significant increases include:
Tolls: I-95 tolls increased 25%, Route 1 E-Z Pass weekday tolls increased 50%, and some weekend tolls doubled.
Vehicle Titling Fees: Increased from 4.25% to 5.25% of a vehicle's purchase price—a 23.5% increase.
Driver's License Fees: Increased from $40 to $50, a 25% increase.
Electric and Hybrid Vehicle Fees: Delaware created new annual registration fees of up to $110 for electric vehicles, with higher fees for heavier vehicles.
State Park and Beach Entrance Fees: Some entrance fees doubled.
Taken together, these and other tax and fee increases are estimated to generate more than $110 million in additional revenue from Delaware families and businesses.
