So How Did The EV Public Hearing Go?

Updated: Apr 26, 2023

Mostly it was an incredibly painful experience to endure, due to the overwhelming percentage of callers who were pro the EV Mandate. Interestingly, the pro EV Mandate side never mentioned the actual mandate, but rather focused on their support of EV's for their freedom of choice to test drive and purchase an EV and their terror of gas-powered vehicles and climate change catastrophe, literally an issue of life and death.

Two of our Sussex Republicans were speakers and did a fantastic job. BIG THANKS to Sherry Long and Larry Mayo! There were a scattered few other citizens who also spoke out against the Mandate. However, the vast majority of speakers were pro EV's, though as I said, they neglected to mention that this hearing was about an EV MANDATE.

Most speakers promoted climate change TERROR, such as intense rain, communities cut off by flooding, Lewes "tidal-gate", and a one foot sea level rise since 1990??? One fearful young lady stated that Delaware will be under water completely in 70 years. I hope she moves soon. Several of the callers stated they had attended the State Town Halls on the EV Mandate and reported the dissemination of false information at these meetings, specifically, criticizing Dr. Legates and the Caesar Rodney Institute, that they had a financial gain to promote what was labeled as false and inaccurate information on EV's and climate change. The pro-Choice crowd was ridiculed as succumbing to fake news, false science and other nonsense.

As per the pro-Mandate callers: EV batteries are safe, EV batteries don't get placed in dumps, there is no lithium or cobalt in EV batteries, EV batteries are getting cheaper, AND ... you'll still be able to own your traditional gas-powered vehicle! Nope, none of that is true.

Pro-Mandate callers stated that their right to own an EV was not being respected, that they couldn't buy an EV in Delaware and only by passing the Mandate would they be able to purchase an EV in Delaware. Hmmm, but our right to own a gas-powered vehicle is not valid? The Disconnect is real. Oddly a frequently mentioned reason to support the Mandate was the desire to be able to test drive EV's and be able to purchase an EV in Delaware and that the Mandate will help them have the ability to test drive and purchase an EV. OK .... but somehow this is a reason to ban people's ability to purchase or test drive a gas-powered vehicle? They really believe this. Their immense self-regard and pathological narcissism knows no bounds.

And of course, gas-powered vehicles are racist. Here's the argument: Low income people live near highways. Low income people are "people of color." EV's improve air quality. Therefore the EV Mandate is "anti-racist." Talk about being racist!! Nope, they don't see it.

Do democrats care about the State Constitution? One caller stated that since the General Assembly delegated its authority to DNREC, too bad, so sad, get over it.

The CCP backed National Resource Defense Council Chinese speaker chimed in and stated that Delaware "must accelerate the transition to EV's" that it "is imperative to prevent climate change and improve air quality and health". So if the CCP thinks Delaware should mandate EV's .... well, you decide if China wants what's best for Delaware.

The American Lung Association was also an official speaker and promoted the Mandate for healthier air, to reduce traffic pollution with negative health consequences and early death. Several callers were terrified that our citizens were dying of asthma, dementia and suffered from brain fog due to gas-powered vehicles and that "every doctor in Delaware" is aware of this. Two pediatricians stated that Delaware has the highest rate of pediatric asthma due to gas-powered vehicle pollution. Yet, Delaware has some of the cleanest air in the nation! So maybe vehicle induced air pollution is not the cause of the high rate of pediatric asthma in Delaware?? Oh yeah, follow the science.

OK, Patriots, this is what we are up against. The left believes that unborn babies are clumps of tissue, men can be women, the constitution doesn't matter and they won't be able to test drive and buy EV's in Delaware for themselves unless they ban gas-powered vehicles for you. Please remind all democrats that climate terror is real, Delaware will be under water in 12 years and they should move to California now. I'd say they should take their EV's with them, but they may not make it out of the State with one charge!
