This Fourth of July Post Was Meant to Inspire. Instead, It Started a Firestorm.

Over the Fourth of July weekend, as America celebrated its 250th birthday, the 38th District & Southern Delaware Republican Club shared a simple patriotic message on a Facebook page, accompanied by a video of the National Mall fireworks in Washington, D.C.
It read:
"No storm made by man can stop what so many Americans believe is God's plan for this great nation. America's strength has never come from power alone. It comes from the generosity, charity, compassion, and love that millions of Americans show their neighbors every day. The United States remains a beacon of hope to the world because of the enduring values of freedom, faith, and the willingness of its people to help others. May God continue to bless America as we celebrate 250 years of liberty."
Ordinarily, the 38th Republican District Facebook posts receive only a handful of likes and very few comments.
This one was different.
The post received more than 200 reactions and 95 comments. Surprisingly, while many people liked the post, the overwhelming majority of comments came from those on the political left, and many were extremely hostile. Most were so vulgar and disrespectful that they aren't suitable to reprint here.
What makes this interesting is that the post didn't criticize anyone. It didn't mention a political party, an election, or a candidate. It simply expressed gratitude for America, recognized the generosity and compassion of the American people, mentioned faith, and wished God's blessings on our nation.
Yet for some people, those words alone appeared to provoke a remarkably emotional response.
Why?
Has mentioning God become offensive? Has expressing love for America become controversial? Or are we witnessing a deeper cultural divide over what those words represent?
We're genuinely curious.
Why do you think such a positive, patriotic message triggered such a strong reaction? Read the original Facebook post and join the conversation. https://www.facebook.com/share/v/1KFdXfLm4U/
