We Need You on Election Day: Challengers, Poll Greeters & Phone Callers
Tuesday, September 15 is Primary Election Day, and the Southern Delaware Republican Club needs volunteers throughout the day. Whether you have an hour, a few hours, there is a job for you.
This primary is also our practice run for the November 3 General Election. It gives us a chance to train our team, learn what works, and be ready to go in November!
Be a Poll Challenger
Poll challengers work inside the polling place as authorized observers. You can take a shift at one polling location or move among several polling locations during the day.
Your job is straightforward: listen as voter names are announced, observe the check-in process, watch for equipment or poll-book problems, and document anything unusual. If there is a legitimate reason to challenge a voter's eligibility, you notify the Inspector before the voter enters the voting machine. The Inspector and two Judges handle the challenge—you observe and document what happens.
We have prepared everything you need: a concise Challenger Guide plus a simple two-page field worksheet that walks you through checking in, identifying the Inspector and Judges, what to watch for, what to record, and how to document an issue or challenge.
No previous experience is necessary.
Be a Poll Greeter
Don't want to work inside? We also need plenty of poll greeters outside our polling locations.
Greeters are the friendly face voters see as they arrive. You'll welcome Republican voters, provide approved campaign information, encourage support for our candidates, and help create some Election Day energy outside the polls.
We can provide a tent and campaign yard signs from our 38th District HQ in Fenwick Island. Email us for the private HQ address and to arrange pickup. Info@38thdrcp.com.
Greeters should bring:
A folding chair and, if possible, a small folding table.
Water, snacks, sunscreen and whatever you need to be comfortable during your shift.
Your enthusiasm! Bring a friend and split the day into shifts if you'd like.
We'll help coordinate locations so we have people spread throughout the district rather than everyone ending up at the same poll.
Then Join Us at the 38th War Room
When you're finished at the polls—or if working the polls isn't your thing—join us at our Election Day War Room at a local Fenwick Island restaurant. We'll provide the location privately to volunteers.
As Election Day progresses, we'll identify Republican voters who have not yet voted and start making calls. This is where we need another group of volunteers: grab a call list, get on the phone, and help us turn out every last vote before the polls close.
You can challenge or greet earlier in the day and then come to the War Room and make calls!
