Expect a Packed House: Offshore Wind Meeting Open to the Public - Come Early!

Next Meeting Change of Location: See you Monday, August 3, at our next 38th District and Southern Delaware Republican Club at the Ocean View Community Center, 32 West Avenue, Ocean View, 6:30pm.

Due to the tremendous public interest in offshore wind, this portion of our meeting will be open to the public, and we expect a full house. We encourage Republican members to arrive early to ensure seating.

Following our guest speaker and public questions, we will close the meeting to the public and continue with the regular business meeting of the 38th District and Southern Delaware Republican Club.

Former Delaware Attorney General Jane Brady will provide an update on one of the most important issues facing our coastal communities.

The fight over offshore wind continues to intensify. Federal lawsuits challenging offshore wind approvals remain active, while additional litigation is moving forward against projects such as Empire Wind. Questions continue to be raised over the environmental impacts of offshore transmission cables, converter stations, marine ecosystems, commercial fishing, tourism, navigation, and the industrialization of our coastline.

Closer to home, residents continue to voice concerns over the proposed US Wind export cable route through the Indian River Bay, despite comments submitted by the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency describing the Inland Bays as an estuary of national significance and recommending impacts to the Bay be avoided. Worcester County has also enacted a moratorium on data centers and cable landing stations while it studies their impacts.

Meanwhile, the offshore wind industry itself continues to face significant challenges. Rising construction costs, supply chain issues, project cancellations, litigation, and major companies reconsidering investments have created growing uncertainty worldwide.

Dr. Mike Katz for U.S. Senate and Earl Cooper for U.S. Congress are the only candidates who can beat Chris Coons and Sarah McBride—but first, they need your vote in the Republican Primary. Vote early September 2–13, or vote on Primary Election Day, September 15. Delaware is ready for a new direction.

Dr. Mike Katz is a pediatric anesthesiologist, former Delaware State Senator, and small business owner. He has spent his career caring for Delaware families and serving his community. He's running to bring common-sense leadership, fiscal responsibility, secure borders, and government that puts people before politics. Please vote for Dr. Mike Katz in the Republican Primary on September 15.

Rev. Earl Cooper is a pastor, small business owner, and community leader who has spent decades serving Delaware families. Through his work creating jobs, restoring neighborhoods, and expanding opportunities for homeownership and workforce training, he has dedicated his life to strengthening communities. See you Monday, August 3, at our next 38th District and Southern Delaware Republican Club at the Ocean View Town Hall, 201 Central Avenue, Ocean View, 6:30pm.
