The 38th District and Southern Delaware Republican Club will hold its next meeting on Monday, February 2nd, at the South Coastal Library on Kent Avenue in Bethany Beach. A meet-and-greet begins at 6:00 p.m., with the meeting starting promptly at 6:30 p.m.

This month’s featured speaker is Dr. Michael Katz, a U.S. Senate candidate whose political journey reflects a shift many voters are making nationwide. Dr. Katz previously ran for the same seat as an Independent in 2024, entering the race outside the traditional party structure at a time when frustration with both major parties was high. Since that campaign, he has chosen to affiliate with the Republican Party—citing growing concerns about federal overreach, fiscal irresponsibility, public safety, and the erosion of core constitutional principles.
Dr. Katz’s transition is about aligning with a platform he believes is better positioned to restore accountability, strengthen national security, and protect individual liberty. As a physician, he brings a professional background grounded in evidence, outcomes, and responsibility—an approach he argues is sorely lacking in Washington. At Monday’s meeting, he will speak directly to members about why he believes the Republican Party is now the most viable vehicle for meaningful reform and why this Senate race matters for Delaware’s future.

The meeting will also include remarks from Alexandra Reed Baker, who will discuss her role as Sussex County Recorder of Deeds and the importance of that office in protecting property records, ensuring transparency, and safeguarding residents’ rights. She will also outline how she plans to run her campaign this year, including her priorities, approach to voter engagement, and commitment to effective, accountable local governance.
Following her remarks, members will hear updates from Sussex County Council President Doug Hudson, Senator Gerald Hocker, and Representative Ron Gray, offering insight into current county and state issues impacting southern Delaware and the policy decisions shaping the region in the year ahead.
The meeting is open to Republicans, unaffiliated voters, and independent thinkers who value serious discussion over political theater. Members are encouraged to attend, bring a guest, and engage as the 2026 election cycle begins to take shape.
