X.            Guest Speaker – Dr. David Legates: Professor Emeritus of Climatology at the University of Delaware and former Deputy Assistant Secretary of Commerce at NOAA. He’s a leading voice on climate SCIENCE and public policy, and we’re honored to have him with us tonight. Please welcome Dr. David Legates. Topic: Permanent Absentee.

XI.         Delaware Legislative Report: Let’s Get the First State Right! 7:25-7:30pm

A.  Republican Efforts

                   1.     Property tax reassessments

                   2.     School districts are being more closely examined. Tax rate increase.

                   3.     Criticized the federal representatives to pass the Continuing Resolution to avoid the government shut down.

                   4.     First Veteran’s Affairs Secretary sworn in B. General (Ret.) Karen Berry.

                   5.     Republican proactive bills: bringing more industry to Delaware, bringing more healthcare access to Delaware (CON/DIMER), holding school board superintendents accountable for student proficiencies, laws that lead to more affordable energy (nuclear).

B.  Delaware Democrat Destroyers Counter Measures

                   1.     Pro Windfarm. Lawsuit against DNREC

                   2.     Sussex CC can still file a lawsuit against SB159.
